PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project came to MTa after the Owner had an Initial Schematic Design Package completed by another
Architect, River Street Architects. MTa was asked to continue to improve on the initial layout and overall
design. The existing building (built around 1930) required major repair when acquired from the City.
The roof and part of the second-level floor framing had collapsed. Masonry needed to be repointed and all
windows and doors needed to be replaced. The building had Asbestos Containing Building Material (ACBM) in it that had to be abated before any significant demolition work could occur. MTa hired BACE Structural to design a reframing phasing strategy. Segments of demolition and reframing were phased so construction work could occur safely.
